Azusa Aztecs <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Head Coach: Joe Scherf<\/p>\n<p>Staff: Matt Muncy DC, Robert Beltran, Gary Hart, Paul Chavez, Ray Ochoa.<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: 11-2<\/p>\n<p>Last 5 Years: 35-22 overall, 23-7 league<\/p>\n<p>Last Playoff Appearance: 2009 Semi Finals: Lost San Dimas 50-24<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">st<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Aztecs 21-4 in last two years.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nd<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Scherf feels this is the best team he\u2019s had.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">rd <\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Down:<\/span> <\/strong>Azusa beat Monrovia to win the SGV Shootout in July. Some people think it matters, some don\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">4<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">th<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Keep an eye on WR Abraham Ochoa, QB Jose Nunez and receiver Desmond Reed (no relation to THE Desmond Reed).<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Game Plan:<\/span><\/strong> It looks the Aztecs are King in the Montview. It\u2019s just a matter of how far they can go in the Mid-Valley.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Non League Schedule:<\/span><\/strong> at Bell Gardens, Ontario Christian, Gabrielino.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2.) La Puente Warriors<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Head Coach: Brandon Rohrer<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: 8-3<\/p>\n<p>Last 5 Years: 20-33 overall, 15-15 league<\/p>\n<p>Last Playoff Appearance: 2009 First Round: Lost Paraclete 45-0<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">st<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Rohrer got the Warriors back on track after a brutal 2008.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nd<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> LP has field turf, new stands, great facility.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">rd<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> A second place finish in league could land the Warriors in a home game.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">4<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">th<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Garrett Hrey is gone after a three year run at starting quarterback. Jimmy Jacobo is the heir apparent. Running back Jose Perez is a beast. R.J. Gutierrez and Pedro Candia are both back on the line.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Game Plan:<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <\/span>The Warriors appear to be back and other than Azusa, they should be cool. Second looks about right.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Non League Schedule:<\/span><\/strong> at El Monte, Northview, at Wilson.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3.) Workman Lobos <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Head Coach: Scott Morrison<\/p>\n<p>Staff: Shane Hile, Anthony Hile, Robbie Bartlett<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: 6-5<\/p>\n<p>Last 5 Years: 20-30-1 overall, 12-18 league<\/p>\n<p>Last Playoff Appearance: 2009 First Round: Lost San Dimas 48-6<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">st<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span> <\/strong>Morrison lands at Workman after previous stint at Damien. How effective can he be in first year?<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nd<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Lobos were shut out twice in league- vs. Gladstone and Azusa.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">rd<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Lobos lost a lot of key seniors. Quarterback is Val Cervantez.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">4<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">th<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Receiver George Portella should be an important cog in the Lobos attack. Steve Miranda is a stud up front.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Game Plan:<\/span> <\/strong>Lobos could finish anywhere from third to fifth. Sierra Vista Dons<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Head Coach: Keith Locklear<\/p>\n<p>Staff: Don LeGro OC, Joey Mata DC, Mike Rodarte, David Lazaro, James Rodriguez, John Rodriguez.<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: 5-5<\/p>\n<p>Last 5 Years: 20-33 overall, 16-14 league<\/p>\n<p>Last Playoff Appearance: 2008 First Round: Lost San Dimas 67-12<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">st<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Another school with a fantastic stadium. The fans need to come out.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nd<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Keith Locklear did resign as the Girls basketball coach- not the football coach.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">rd<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <\/span>The Dons need a win over Azusa or Gladstone.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">4<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">th<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span> <\/strong>Erik Perez looks like the guy at quarterback.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Game Plan:<\/span><\/strong> Knock off one of the Montview elite and take care of business with the rest. Ganesha Giants <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Head Coach: David Fleming<\/p>\n<p>Staff: Deion McGwire DC, Jerome Baskerville, Evan Morris, John Galaz, Demetrius Gibson, Mel Jenkins, Gabriel Gonzalez.<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: 1-9<\/p>\n<p>Last 5 Years: 3-47 overall, 1-24 league<\/p>\n<p>Last Playoff Appearance: 1995 First Round: Lost Sunny Hills 24-14<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">st<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Giants won two games in 2008 but dropped back down to one last year.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nd<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span> <\/strong>Is it hard sharing a field with Diamond Ranch? Stay out of the cellar.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Non League Schedule:<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <\/span>at Montclair, Pomona, Garey.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">7.) Bassett Olympians<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Head Coach: Aubrey Duncan<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: 4-6<\/p>\n<p>Last 5 Years: 8-41 overall, 3-27 league<\/p>\n<p>Last Playoff Appearance: 2004 First Round: Lost Cathedral 42-25<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">st<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Leon Ward was let go, and another coach came and went. Bassett finally settled on Duncan.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nd<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Duncan is also the coach of the LA Amazons- (Women\u2019s football team).<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">rd<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Ward does a great job with the East-West All Star game.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">4<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">th<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Same old story. When you lose games you lose kids. A winning season \u2013 especially with a nice facility- would put Bassett right back in play.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Game Plan:<\/span><\/strong> Should beat Duarte but a sixth place finish might be the best they can hope for.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Non League Schedule:<\/span><\/strong> at Keppel, vs. Mt. View, Marshall.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">8.) Duarte Falcons <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Head Coach: Lavelle \u201cTip\u201d Sanders<\/p>\n<p>Staff: Damien Williams Asst DC, Coach Martin, Coach Anderson<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: 0-10<\/p>\n<p>Last 5 Years: 30-26 overall, 20-10 league<\/p>\n<p>Last Playoff Appearance: 2008 Second Round: Lost Monrovia 41-21<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">st<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> \u201cIt\u2019s a lot better than last year!\u201d- Sanders.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nd<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> It is indeed but Falcons have a long way to go.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">rd<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span><\/strong> Sanders had the kids pumped at practice-lots of hitting, hooting and hollering.\u00a0 The right attitude is there.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">4<\/span><\/strong><strong><sup><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">th<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Down:<\/span> <\/strong>Ronnie Lynall, a transfer from Monrovia is battling for the quarterback position. Victor Roman, who has been out since spring, is also in the mix.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Game Plan:<\/span><\/strong> Stay the course and EGBOK.
