Jake Garcia has had a big season for the Braves throwing for over 1700 yards and 21 touchdowns. Even with a loss here the Braves would settle into third place in the Valle Vista and make the playoffs. Northview has its sights set on a perfect regular season. The Vikings will get that Thursday night. Vikings get the W.

Northview 35 Baldwin Park 14

Friday November 1

Schurr (8-1) at Bell Gardens (7-1)

This one is for the Almont League title with both teams at 4-0 coming in. Schurr has lost only one game all year- to La Serna-while Bell Gardens loss came at the hands of El Rancho. BG is up and coming and first year head coach Rudy Ramirez has done a great job. But the question is are they there with Schurr just yet? Probably not. The Lancers will be a challenge but the Spartans come out on top.

Schurr 28 Bell Gardens 17

Cathedral (8-1) at St. Paul (6-3)

St. Paul just keeps on winning big games. The Swordsmen survived Paraclete last week and have won all four Angelus League games. If they win Friday night they will have a league title. The only thing standing in their way is Cathedral. And right now the Phantoms are a big road block. Like St. Paul they are 4-0 in league and fought off a tough team last week in St. Francis. Cathedral has lost only once all year – to Narbonne in Week 4. St. Paul has momentum right now and has seemed to be up to every challenge this year. A big home crowd will help as well. The Swordsmen get it done.

St. Paul 24 Cathedral 20

Damien (7-2) at Rancho Cucamonga (6-3)

Damien can wrap up the Baseline with a win over Rancho Cucamonga. It’s been a great season for a Spartan team that changed coaches just weeks before the season opener. Head Coach James Stewart has stepped in and hasn’t missed a beat. With four straight wins in the Baseline it only seems fitting that Damien will finish it off here. Spartans go undefeated in league.

Damien 27 Rancho Cucamonga 24

Mayfair (7-2) at Downey (8-1)

Both teams are unbeaten in the Gateway League coming in. Downey beat rival Warren last week while Mayfair took care of Dominquez. Great matchup for the league title between two heavyweights. Downey hasn’t been tested in league. Mayfair survived a one-point win over Warren three weeks ago. Mayfair is good but right now Downey is better. Vikings will be crowned Gateway League champs.

Downey 35 Mayfair 24

Covina (8-1) at Chino (3-6)

Chino, despite starting the season 0-5, has a shot at a share of the Hacienda League title with a win Friday night. The Cowboys are 3-1 in league but Covina is their biggest test. The Colts haven’t lost in league. In fact they’ve only lost once all year and that was at the hands of undefeated Northview. Chino will give Covina a run but in the end the Colts offense will be too much. Even with a loss Chino could still slide into the playoffs.

Covina 35 Chino 21

South El Monte (6-3) at Arroyo (5-4)

This game looked great a couple of weeks ago but Arroyo’s loss to El Monte two weeks ago killed some of the buzz. But South El Monte still wants a win to wrap up the Mission Valley League title and finish a perfect league run. Both teams are coming off big wins last week. South routed Gabrielino while Arroyo took care of Mt. View. South El Monte has enough to win the MVL crown.

South El Monte 24 Arroyo 16

South Pasadena (7-2) at La Canada (8-1)

Big game in the Rio Hondo. Depending on what happens here South Pasadena, La Canada and Monrovia could all finish in a three-way tie or the Tigers could win the title outright with a victory. Monrovia beat La Canada last week and South Pasadena beat Monrovia the week before. The Spartans are still stewing over a game they feel they should have won last week. They will bring the heat and won’t let their foot off the gas. La Canada wins, Monrovia beats Poly, all three teams will be tied and CIF will have to work it out.

La Canada 31 South Pasadena 28

Quick Hits

Thursday October 31

Azusa at Nogales – Nogales

Alta Loma at West Covina – Alta Loma

Diamond Ranch at San Dimas – San Dimas

Friday November 1

San Gabriel at Montebello – San Gabriel

Chino Hills at Upland – Chino Hills

Santa Fe vs. La Serna (Pioneer) – La Serna

Don Lugo at Montclair – Don Lugo

Diamond Bar at Walnut – Diamond Bar

Pasadena vs. Muir (Rose Bowl) – Muir

Burbank at Burroughs – Burbank

Bonita at Colony – Bonita

Charter Oak at Glendora (Citrus College) – Charter Oak

San Marino at Temple City- San Marino

El Monte at Mt.
