(El Monte) – Mt. View has hired former Damien and Bishop Amat head coach Mark Paredes as their new head football coach Athletic Director Angel Lopez confirmed Friday. <\/p>\n\n\n

<\/p>\n

Paredes was the head coach at Damien from 2013-2018 compiling an overall record of 30-34. He has been an assistant coach under Steve Hagerty at Bishop Amat for the last four years.<\/p>\n

Paredes was also the head coach at Bishop Amat in the nineties where he guided the Lancers to a CIF title in 1992.<\/p>\n

Paredes moved on to JW North where he won two more CIF championships in 1995 and 2001. <\/p>\n

He stepped down as the head coach at Damien after the 2018 campaign deciding at the time that it was time to “ride off into the sunset” and possibly retire. The Spartans went 4-7 overall in ’18 and lost to Citrus Hill in the first round of the CIF Division 3 playoffs. <\/p>\n

But he decided to return to the place where he had so much success, Bishop Amat, in 2021 as an assistant before resigning after the season when Hagerty stepped down.<\/p>\n

Paredes takes over for Paul Rodriguez who resigned in October of last year after leading the Vikings since 2021. <\/p>\n

Now a new era begins and a new view for Paredes and the Vikings.<\/p>\n

EL MONTE – Mountain View High School (MVHS) has appointed CIF Hall of Fame Football Coach Mark Paredes as its new head football coach. Paredes, inducted into the CIF Southern Section\u2019s Hall of Fame in 2021, is renowned for his remarkable career, which includes leading Bishop Amat High School to the Division 1 title in 1992 and guiding JW North High School to section championships in 1995 and 2001.<\/strong>
