Veterans have worked hard and helped younger players learn fast. We’re young, but eager and improving every day.

Q: After an 8-3 season, what did you focus on?

A: Execution in crucial moments. That showed up in the playoffs, so our focus is being consistent.

Q: What are the team’s biggest strengths?

A: Defense. Six returning starters bring game experience, and I’ve challenged them to make a name for themselves.

Q: Who’s stepping up after losing key players?

A: On the line, Zion Burris, Tristen Romero, and Jacob Baker are anchors, joined by Angelo Saavedra, Robert Fanelli, and Miguel Urueta. At running back, Diego Cerritos returns, paired with Da’ron Walker.

Q: Who are the key returners to watch?

A: Cerritos, Walker, linebackers Onosai Faamatau, David Ibarra, Keyshawn Williams, DB Andres Escobar, plus Burris and Romero up front.

Q: Any younger players filling big roles?

A: Yes, Edward DeLeon at RB, Josh Ayala at OLB, and Riley Howard at LB/TE.

Q: Who’s made the biggest leap?

A: Escobar. He’s grown as a leader and is coaching up the younger guys.

Q: How’s the team identity forming?

A: We’re young but hardworking. Chemistry is strong, and once we click, we’ll be tough to beat.

Q: Who are the toughest matchups this year?

A: Venice, Pasadena, Paramount, and Gahr. We’re taking it one game at a time.

Q: Why are you not playing Glenn this year for the Mayor’s Cup?

A: I’m bummed it’s off the schedule. After last year, it’s not coming back anytime soon.

Q: What excites you most about this group?

A: Their eagerness. It’s an old-school group—practice ends, and they still hang out and throw the ball. They love being around each other.

Q: Anything you want to add?

A: Thanks for the support of Norwalk football—our staff, students, community.
