{"id":92066,"date":"2025-09-19T22:33:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-20T05:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=92066"},"modified":"2025-09-20T11:14:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-20T18:14:12","slug":"lions-make-a-statement-in-mvl-rout-arroyo-41-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=92066","title":{"rendered":"Lions Make a Statement in MVL; Rout Arroyo 41-7"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Rich Whittington <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(El Monte) &#8211; El Monte made a powerful statement Friday evening, defeating the visiting Arroyo Knights, 41-7, at Lions Stadium, in a game that many believe would have a major impact in determining the eventual 2025 Mission Valley League Championship.<br><\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n<p>El Monte opened the scoring, when Aaron Rivera found the end-zone on a 4-yard<br>scoring blast. Rivera, who also handles the kicking duties for the Lions, successfully converted the PAT attempt, making the score 7-0, with 8:22 remaining on the clock.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lions added another score in the period, when Alex Aleman connected with Noah Munoz for a 29-yard touchdown. A second Rivera PAT made the score 14-0 as the first quarter came to an end.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Monte continued their scoring in the second quarter, when Isaiah Standley took the<br>direct snap and ran 29 yards for then Lions third score of the evening. Rivera\u2019s PAT attempt was successful, making the score 21-0 with 8:13 remaining in the opening half.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lions scored again when Aleman hooked up with Munoz for their second score of the evening\u2026a 56-yard catch and run. A fourth Rivera PAT made the score 28-0 at halftime.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The third quarter provided more El Monte fireworks. Aleman and Munoz connected for<br>their third score of the evening on a 35-yard TD toss and it was 35-0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lions onslaught continued in the third when Aleman connected with Jaime Hernandez for an 8-yard touchdown. The PAT was unsuccessful, making the score 41-0 with 10:23 remaining in the quarter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a fine outing for Aleman, who completed 16 of 26 pass attempts for 288 yards, including the four   scoring passes.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arroyo scored in the third period as well. The Knights capped off a 13 play, 95-yard<br>scoring drive with a 12-yard toss from quarterback Angel Casillas to receiver Jose Penaloza. The PAT<br>was added by Paxton Parps, making the score 41-7 as the third quarter ended. This was the final score of the contest.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next up for El Monte is a road trip to John Muir High School, where the Lions will play the Marshall Eagles. Arroyo will travel to South El Monte High School, where the Knights will battle the Eagles.
