(Monrovia) – The Monrovia Wildcats kept their modest playoff hopes alive Friday evening as the Cats defeated the visiting San Marino Titans, 35-7, in front of a sizable homecoming crowd at Monrovia High School.

Wildcats\u2019 running back Byron Bell led the way for Monrovia, carrying the ball 12 times for 214 yards and three scores.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After a scoreless first half, Monrovia took the lead on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter, when Bell scored his first TD of the contest on a 65-yard run. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His second score came a few minutes later, as he hit pay dirt with an 82-yard jaunt. The third score was added at the beginning of the fourth quarter, when he broke off another long offering, 56-yards, to extend the Monrovia lead.

The Wildcats added two additional running scores in the game\u2019s final period. Lucas Martinez scored on a 6-yard TD blast, while Dashawn Sieber added to Monrovia\u2019s total with a 14-yard TD scamper.

The Monrovia kicking game was spot on for the evening, with Zephyr Enriquez converting all five of his PAT attempts.

San Marino got on the board in the third quarter, when quarterback Parker Wilson connected with receiver Chase Mena for an 18-yard TD strike. Wilson also successfully converted the extra point.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Defensively, Monrovia provided a challenge for the Titans, winning the turnover battle 3-0. Wildcats’ defensive end Dominic Lino recovered a Titan fumble, while Zephyr Enriquez, from his free safety position, secured two interceptions of San Marino’s Wilson.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Next week, Monrovia (6-3, 1-2 in Rio Hondo League play) will finish their regular season Thursday night with a visit to Temple City. San Marino (3-6, 1-2 in the RHL) will be at home to host the La Canada Spartans on Friday night.
