El Monte can wrap it up with a win while Gabrielino can force a tie if it can pull off an upset. Gabrielino has been up and down. They held off South El Monte by two points in early October but then the Eagles were routed by Arroyo the following week. El Monte has been steady throughout. Lions get the win and the league title.

El Monte 35 Gabrielino 21

Diamond Bar (3-6) at Chino (4-5)

Diamond Bar fell to unbeaten Los Altos last week after three straight wins but the Brahmas can still secure second place in the Hacienda League with a win over Chino. The Cowboys beat South Hills last week but also lost to Los Altos two weeks ago. Diamond Bar’s offense has been clicking. The Brahmas still put up 35 in the loss to the Conquerors. Dominic Tortorelli and company get it done.

Diamond Bar 31 Chino 24

Ontario (6-3) at Nogales (6-3)

Nogales can clinch the Montview League with a win over Ontario. The Nobles have rolled through league and Thursday night should be no different. Offensively Nogales will rely on quarterback Santino Garcia who has thrown for 987 yards and ran for 550 and running back Orlando Zamora who has rushed for 1,289 yards and 12 touchdowns. Nobles win going away.

Nogales 38 Ontario 21

Northview (7-2) at West Covina (7-2)

Northview was derailed last week by Alta Loma in a one-point loss. The Vikings appeared to be on their way to a perfect Valle Vista League run. West Covina beat Diamond Ranch last week at SoFi and is on a roll with five straight victories. A win over Northview clinches it for the Bulldogs but a loss and an Alta Loma win over San Dimas throws the league into a three-way tie for first. West Covina gives the Vikings a scare but Northview survives. There will be a three-way tie for first place and we’ll let CIF figure out the rest.

Northview 28 West Covina 24

Charter Oak (8-1) at Bonita (6-3, 7-2 on field)

This looks like the game of the week. Two highly ranked area teams will be battling it out for the Sierra League title. Both come in at 4-0 in league. The Bearcats are coming off of a decisive win over Los Osos while Charter Oak took care of Colony. Bonita had some injuries early on but Travis Lippert is now back at quarterback. For the Chargers Corin Berry, Torry Huff, Antonio Reasby and JD Sanchez are all ready to go. Charter Oak hasn’t been tested in league and has lost only once all year. Bonita will be the Chargers toughest test so far but the Chargers will pass the exam. They have too many weapons.

Charter Oak 35 Bonita 28

Friday October 31

La Canada (8-1) at San Marino (3-6)

La Canada stumbled a couple of weeks ago against South Pasadena but it won’t happen again. The Spartans bounced back last week with a win over Monrovia and are poised to take second in the Rio Hondo. San Marino looks like its headed for fourth place. La Canada secures the win and gears up for the playoffs.

La Canada 34 San Marino 13

Bell Gardens (7-2) at Schurr (6-3)

Schurr played a tough non-league schedule but has rolled though the Almont winning four straight since a loss to Bonita back on September 19. Bell Gardens is also unbeaten in the Almont and the Lancers also haven’t lost since September 19. It will be Schurr’s biggest test in league. Bell Gardens can score and can play defense as well. In five games this season the Lancers have held their opponent to 10 points or less. They will stay with Schurr until the fourth quarter but ultimately the Spartans will get it done. Schurr goes undefeated in league.

Schurr 31 Bell Gardens 21

Pasadena (6-3) at Muir (8-1) (Turkey Tussle, Rose Bowl)

The Turkey Tussle is always fun. Fun for the players who in many cases know each other and fun for them to play in a historical stadium like the Rose Bowl. Muir hasn’t been touched in league. In fact last week the Mustangs couldn’t even get on the field as their Pacific League opponent forfeited. Muir hasn’t lost since a one-point defeat to Charter Oak back on September 6. Pasadena has been cruising through the Pacific as well with its only defeat coming at the hands of Burbank 35-14. Muir beat Burbank by 30. Pasadena can compete in the Pacific with everybody except Muir. Trey Gamble, Alijha Smith, Zion McDonald and the rest of the Stangs are too much to handle. Muir rolls.

Muir 45 Pasadena 14

Quick Hits

Thursday October 30

Norwalk at Bellflower- Norwalk

La Puente at Workman – La Puente

Azusa at Pomona – Pomona

Claremont at Colony – Colony

Santee at Rio Hondo Prep – Rio Hondo Prep

Burroughs at Burbank – Burbank

Diamond Ranch at Baldwin Park – Baldwin Park

Mayfair at La Mirada – Mayfair

Damien at Ayala – Damien

Rosemead at Marshall – Rosemead

Montebello at San Gabriel – San Gabriel

Mt.
