On this date in 1979, Rams owner Carroll Rosenbloom decided to go swimming\u2014alone\u2026and the Los Angeles Rams 1.0 began their inevitable journey to St. Louis.<\/p>\n

Good for Puka Nacu for checking into rehab. 
\nIf he saw the need for it himself\u2014that’s the best.
\nIf he was taking counsel from McSnead, it’s a great indication of humbleness.
\nIf it was an ultimatum (Go to rehab or else), that works too because he’s about to make some serious bread.<\/p>\n

I know what money can do\u2026I got a 100-bucks for my 8th grade graduation and turned into a madman.<\/p>\n

“Joe, did you see Artemis?”
\n“Artemis Parker? Yeah, I remember Artemis Parker. He was a pretty good safety at USC.”<\/p>\n

Is there anything more jejune than the amount of time wasted talking about who the MVP is going to be in a particular sport?<\/p>\n

(Definition of Jejune: describing something as uninteresting, boring, or lacking substance.) <\/p>\n

Tell me who sucks, tell me who’s good. Don’t tell me about the concert you went to, are going to, or plan to attend. And don’t waste my time on how Wemby deserves it over Shai\u2014I don’t care.<\/p>\n

When I was younger, I was upset at the East Coast bias that kept giving the NBA MVP to Larry Bird over Magic Johnson. I remember being upset when Ohio State’s Archie Griffin got his second Heisman at the expense of USC’s Ricky Bell.<\/p>\n

Must be an age thing, because these days I’m more into discussions about the sixth man, the swing tackle, and taking shots at the WNBA than who’s gonna be the MVP<\/p>\n

In defense of Babe Ruth getting dragged unnecessarily to elevate Shohei Ohtani\u2014and elevate Ohtani all you want, he’s amazing\u2014recognize that Ruth spent his entire career playing against seven other American League teams.<\/p>\n

Yes, baseball wasn’t integrated, but there’s a good argument that those original American League teams (only eight\/long before expansion) had deeper rotations with better arms and better pitchers. <\/p>\n

Today, these are tremendous athletes, tremendous players, but in a league with 30 teams, the pitching is watered down.<\/p>\n

I’m all in on praising Ohtani, but Babe Ruth’s legacy doesn’t need to be destroyed in the process. <\/p>\n
