  4. Azusa Pacific announced the addition of women’s flag football to its athletics program beginning in 2026-’27. It will debut as a club sport in 2026-’27 with integration to full intercollegiate competition in 2027-’28. Bo Beatty, who is on the football staff, will be the head coach. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Fernando Mendoza, the projected number 1 pick in the NFL draft, has informed the league that he is not planning to attend the draft. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Hall of Famer Steve McMichael, a key member of the 1985 Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears, has been diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy, the Concussion & CTE Foundation said. McMichael passed away last year at 67 after a five-year battle with ALS, known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

Colorado quarterback Dominiq Ponder had a blood alcohol level of .167, twice the legal limit for driving under the influence, when he died in a single-car crash near Boulder, according to the autopsy report from the Boulder County Coroner’s Office. Ponder, 23, was killed early on March 1 when he lost control on a curve and hit a guardrail. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. About 1,550 Division 1 scholarship players have already entered the men’s college basketball transfer portal of about 5,000 total. Of the 5,000 about 1,300 to 1,400 are out of eligibility so that leaves 1,550 out of approximately 3,650 that are in the portal, which opened Tuesday morning. That is 42 percent according to Basketball Analyst Jeff Goodman. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
