Ficklin takes over for Rand Holdren who stepped down last month to take the head coach job at Village Christian. <\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n<p>Ficklin coached at Cantwell Sacred Heart in Montebello for the last three years before resigning in February. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Cantwell went 1-9 last season and 0-5 in the Del Rey League. The Cardinals\u2019 best year under Ficklin was his first season in 2023 when they went 9-3 overall including 5-1 in the Del Rey League. They advanced to the second round of the CIF playoffs before falling to Westminster 3-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cantwell was 13-19 overall (1-1 in the playoffs) during Ficklin\u2019s three-year run. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last season Maranatha went 7-4 overall (4-1 in the Mesquite League) and fell to Baldwin Park 42-28 in the first round of the CIF Division 11 playoffs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I met with some of the players today.
