(Covina) – The South outscored the North 19-0 in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and went on to a 32-7 rout in the North-South All-Star game Friday night at Lou Farrar Stadium at Charter Oak High.<\/p>\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n

The South. already leading 26-7 late in the fourth quarter, scored with less three minutes left on a halfback pass to make it 32-7. the touchdown led to some pushing and shoving and the officials made the decision to call the game immediately after the score. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The play was chippy throughout the contest with both teams receiving unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The South jumped out in front 13-0 in the first quarter. Enrique Zatrarin from St. Paul hauled in an 11-yard touchdown pass from his St. Paul teammate Gabe Castenada with 3:49 left in the quarter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After an Alberto Chavez (Schurr) interception the South Struck again two minutes later. Diego Castillo of Los Altos hit a wide-open Joseph Alvarado from La Mirada on a 29-yard touchdown strike with 1:48 left for a 13-0 lead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The North got on the board mid-way through the second quarter when Alhambra’s Halan Tsang bulled into the endzone from seven yards out to make it 13-7. The South took the six-point lead into the half. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a scoreless third quarter the South put it away in the fourth. Castaneda tossed his second touchdown of the night – a six-yard pass to Alex Gutierrez from Gahr with 9:48 left. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the next South possession Gavin Ingram from Downey showed off his speed and broke loose for a 65-yard touchdown jaunt for a three-score lead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The South added one more late score for the final tally that led to the stoppage of the game and the South secured the victory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Offensive and defensive MVP trophies were presented to both teams following the contest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
