Last year he led the Eagles to the Mission Valley League title with a record of 9-3 and 19-14 overall. The Eagles advanced to the CIF Division IV Finals before falling to Frances Parker. They also advanced to the CIF State Semi-Finals. The Eagles had four players make 1st Team all CIF last season and seven overall during his four-year stint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Gonzales&#8217; first year the Eagles went 6-6 in league and 13-13 overall but made the playoffs for the first time in eight years. Then South El Monte reeled off three straight MVL titles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Eagles advanced to the CIF Finals in 2024 and &#8217;26. South went 73-42 overall under Gonzales and 11-6 in the playoffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It was just time. I took the program as far as I could.
