(Crescenta Valley) – The San Marino Titans found a way to win Friday evening defeating the host Crescenta Valley Falcons, 18-14, at Osborne Field.<\/p>\n\n\n

CV took control from the very beginning of the contest. In fact, the Falcons controlled the tempo for the first three quarters of the contest, starting with a 13 play, 62-yard opening drive that ended with a 2-yard scoring run by quarterback Julian Savery. The point after was added by kicker Seamus Carsey, making the score 7-0 with 7:06 remaining in the opening quarter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
San Marino put up its first points of the game as the quarter neared its end, courtesy of kicker Nick Acuna, who hit a 25-yard field goal to make the score 7-3 at the end of the first quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Falcons extended their lead at the end of the second period, when Savery connected with wideout Nathan Karsten for a 5-yard score. A second Carsey extra point made it 14-3 at halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The score remained the same until the final quarter of play, when the Titans took control of the contest, adding two touchdowns in the final stanza. First, running back Nathan Neilson scored on a 1-yard touchdown blast. A two-point conversion made the score 14-11, with 9:11 remaining in the contest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their second score was 3-yard run by Nick Acuna, who also kicked the extra point. This made the score 18-14, with 4:22 left on the clock. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Crescenta Valley had one final chance to win the game. However, a late fumble that was recovered by San Marino sealed the victory for the Titans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CV runner Phoenix Vengco had a good night for the Falcons, carrying the ball for 145 yards on 21 carries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Falcons will travel to South Pasadena next Friday night to meet the 4-2 Tigers. The Titans, who were scheduled to host the Pasadena Bulldogs on Thursday night, will have the week off. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
