After receiving the opening kickoff South Pasadena scored on a 72-yard run by Toshio Matsuoka. The extra point was added by kicker Jackai Williams making the score 7-0 before most of the spectators had even found their seats.

South Pas scored again a short time later when running back Evan Hyun hit the end zone on a 6-yard scoring blast. Williams kicked it through again making the score 14-0 with 6:11 remaining in the opening stanza.

Crescenta Valley got on the board on the next possession thanks to a 22-yard scoring connection from quarterback Julian Savery to wide receiver Joaquin Soriano. Anthony Mirzakhanian booted the point after making the score 14-7 as the first quarter came to an end.

The Falcons tied the game early in the second quarter, when Savery found Soriano for the second time, producing a 29-yard touchdown. A second successful Mirzakhanian PAT knotted things at 14-14 with 10:53 remaining until halftime.

South Pasadena posted two more scores in the period, as Hyun scored his second and third TD’s of the evening. The first came on the defensive side of the ball as defensive back Campbell Carey recovered a CV fumble and returned it 65 yards for the coveted “scoop and score”. The second was Hyun’s fourth touchdown of the contest…a 68-yard run. The third score was courtesy of running back Joshua Fang who found the end zone on a 25-yard rush. Three more kicks by Williams made the final score 49-21.

Hyun had a big night for the Tigers, carrying the ball 18 times for 203 yards and four touchdowns. Williams also shined for South Pasadena. In addition to converting all seven extra points he posted touchbacks on seven of his eight kickoff attempts.
