When was the last time Cal made to the playoffs? Been a few
@Cal mom, yes especially when they are leading 54 – 0
Cal has only lead to start the 4th QTR in 2 games. Shame on them for leaving their starters in!
This is hilarious, both head coaches played on the same El Rancho team, both are great friends outside the field, both staffs are friends, all with huge ER roots. Let the helmets do the talking.
@Anonymous, we sure got your goat. You are getting more and more abnoxius. Now you go to another level of trash talk. You mad huh. Talk about trash. You don’t see ER people getting racial or demographical. Shows your true nature. Bet you look down on people of different stature or color. Typical hilltop mentality
As I sit on this porcelain throne, SEM came to mind. I got a huge chuckle at the bludgeoning at the swamp at the hands of the BP Braves. Then I read your comments and I realized, how could it be any different? 4 same plays on offense giving up big plays on defense lol blame the One constant that still remains lmfao! Gabrielino comes to town on Friday could it be another loss? That seat will be smokin if that happens. All eyes on you!
Yeah Thumper, Anonymous, keep adding locker room clippings. We love it. More incentives, more fire more heat for this game. Make no mistake ER WILL be ready. ER’s calender was marked for Oct 1st. Go ahead and think the ER is fearful of Cal. BRING IT ON!!!
Cal classless? ER coaches and fans are the ghetto trash of the DRL. CAL has more class then you’ll ever know. Our coaches are humble unlike yours. You guys talk so much. You beat up on weak teams and think your going to the championship game. When Cal wins your chance at going to playoffs end. Good luck.
@Anonymous you are so foolish to match scores to think that it matters. ER pulled their starters in the 3rd qtr showing some sportsmanship unlike Cal that was obviously trying to prove a point. I’v been to Cal games and they keep their starts in the whole game. No class, but hey that’s the type of program they want, more power to them.
The only transfers I see for Arroyo on the CIF website are for baseball. Sometimes they recruit within the district and kids that belong to Mt View or El Monte will enroll at Arroyo. That doesn’t really count as a transfer though. Especially since they went to Arroyo right after 8th grade.
Anyone taking about the Arroyo transfers yet? Or no because they’re not cause they’re not faster then everyone else.
Daniel don’t even play
@ron Jose took over for Michael Parisi at Pasadena and that program regressed under his watch. Now he gets the keys to a Ferrari that Steve built up hoping he doesn’t crash it but history says he will. Really interesting that they decide to not hire a varsity assistant or go get a top coach out there as the Alhambra baseball program has been the standard in the almont with Montebello.
Take the A Train, and I’ll just leave it at that. By the way, it’s a great tune by Duke Ellington, for those who like swing music.
I’m onboard the “make Alhambra Great Again” train. Donald Trump is available to take the reins, and in that instance, I’m sure Ron Vrooman will become a card-carrying republican, to show the team solidarity that has long been his trademark.
Cal high by 28, ER is full of short fat kids, they aint ready for Vance to run wild and Daniel to slice them up for 300 yards easy
Just looking at algorithms folks..Don’t kill the nmessenger. If Whittier, Cal, Santa Fe and La Serna had played El Ranch’s schedule all would probably be 6-0. If El Rancho had played La Serna’s schedule they would would be 1-5 Cals 3-3 Santa Fe’s 3-3 and Whittier’s 2-3. As Fauci would say the stats tell you to get vaccinated but that up to you. Go to bars unvaccinated if you want, have a good time hugging up your unvaccinated pals. Enjoy 6-0 ER fans. But facts point that this 6-0 is a mirage. Maybe you won’t catch the losing bug. Maybe stats do not apply to this team but….. best prepare for the big let down folks. The upside is a few league losses maybe even 3 could mean a favorable wild card spot in the playoffs for the Dons. Hard to ignore a 7-3 team.
@ Anonymous and others: San Gabriel is playing its best football since 2011, which was the last time the Matadors won an Almont League championship. Only time will tell whether they have it all figured out.
Alhambra’s varsity football team is now 1-4 because, while it is scoring 32 points per game, it’s allowing over 39. In contrast, our 2019 team, which went 12-1, averaged 40 points a game and had a defense which gave up fewer than 15 per contest. And, yes, the coaching staff is mostly unchanged.
So far this year, we haven’t had the skilled, aggressive, and hard-hitting defenders that we did in 2019. We did show some signs of life during the second half last night, when we outscored Trinity, 21-6. Sadly, we were down by 32 points at halftime, so that rally didn’t affect the outcome of the game. But, hopefully, it will help us build toward a victory over Mark Keppel in our league opener next Friday.
One thing that has improved for us over the course of the season is our running game; we rushed for 279 yards and four touchdowns against Trinity. The offensive line has gotten better at blocking, and junior Erick Baray has emerged as a solid running back.
However, our tackling and pass coverage are glaring weaknesses on defense which need to be corrected.
@ Moor for Life: Nope. In addition, I find it funny (both humorous and strange) that you’re predicting the demise of Alhambra’s baseball program before the first pitch of the post-Steve Gewecke era has even been thrown.
@ A-Town: I’ll agree that strong athletic programs often enhance the academic side at high schools. Success in athletics is motivational and contributes to good morale on a school campus.
Alhambra’s new principal, David Keyes, is supportive, and the athletic director, Maya Joko, is working hard on behalf of all the teams at AHS. I believe we’ll turn this thing around, but it’s going to take some time.
I wasn’t able to make the game last night @Anonymous. I just read the score, Which was eye popping. I’m not sure if #7 played or not as SEM does not post stats. But, he is a stud and by far their best player. All I can say is that score says a lot about something.
What happened to their QB? #7 is a stud but he didn’t play one snap at all. Is he hurt? Or did coach go with another QB smh
@All ER Chest thumpers
All of your wins have come against teams with negative double digit scores via calpreps. Facts.
Looking forward to watching that Cal vs ER game play out.
Ranch 18 looks like ur hiding?
It’s funny how SG is having their best season in a decade and everyone is saying that they have it figured out. Alhambra has been competitive and smacked SG since coach Eric has been there. And Alhambra was 20-3 over a 2 year period with that coach from keppel and that baseball coach, but they need to fire their coaches? Sounds like SG is having a good season and Alhambra isn’t. Plain and simple.
Bring it!
@Anonymous 🤣
Wow, y’all stay in hiding 🙈
Enjoy Homecoming @ your Alma mater 🤣
Another bad loss from South El Monte. Losing is one thing but gollee 56 points! All is not right at the swamp. Maybe Gallardo is slipping a bit. Because while BP may be a good team, they just played Rosemead and they only beat them by two scores. So I’m not sure what to make of it. But, Then you add to the fact that Arroyo completely destroys Glendale 49-0 who beat SEM by two scores. Then, all these rumors coming out, you gotta ask What’s going on at the swamp.
Bassett 34
Garey 27
Don Lugo was not a good win for ER and not a good win for Cal, regardless it’s time to settle it on the field, none of this on the clock you wannabe ER stuff, no talking is needed, helmets can talk on Friday night.
We need to make Alhambra get again. All these administrators don’t understand that having a great athletics program has a positive impact on academics.
San Gabriel! Wow, doing things right.
The pride is gone from Alhambra we have become baby keppel. Ron get ready to do Badminton stats that’s the only sport here dominating in. Baseball program going down hill soon
Wow We smashed don lugo. ER fans thought that was a good win? SMH. CAL coming for you. Thanks for scheduling us on your HOCO. I love the latest calling us ER wannabes bootleg version. Felix get ready.
A former keppel player and a Alhambra baseball coach are coaches on the defensive staff not surprised by the results.
ER fans again pounding their chests over a mediocre win. Sit down be humble. Cal gonna wax that A$$
Alhambra moors what’s going on you guys went from top of the league to the bottom of the league. Now it looks like Mark Keppel get it’s first win next week in league lol. For the time in years are very close to a win. Personally I think they need a new coaching staff. The coaching staff looks like clowns out there coaching a pop Warner football game lol.
By virtue of a 36-15 victory over an always-tough Culver City squad, I hereby declare La Serna the 2021 Del Rio League Champion. The formality of plowing through the Whittier area will afford Andy George’s squad some much-needed rest.
Who’s calling the defense for the Moors.
Ok Anonylasso, let’s hear how El Rancho is so damn lucky. Yet another cupcake win in a 4-1 Norwalk team. We are such a soft 6-0 team. New season coming in the next chapter. Next is a tough Cal team. Should be a great game
Alhambra lost to Trinity Classical Dance Academy 50-33. Trinity is so balanced and precise they confused the Alhambra 11. It must have been their ballet training.
Alhambra just awful.. can’t tackle
Some of those federal planes that are ferrying people here and there have landed much of La Habra’s yearly quota of transfers onto the tarmac at Servite.
@ BG: Thanks; I knew there was a three-win season somewhere in there, and those were all nonleague wins. Keppel probably hasn’t won a league game since around 1999, which was the last season the Aztecs beat Alhambra.
@ Anonymous: You make a good point. I hope AHS does better tonight against Trinity Classical Academy.
@ Question Mark: No, I would never turn my back on AHS. However, I sub at Mark Keppel every now and then and I know a lot of people there. I’m happy for them.
How does Amat come up with 15+ players with Covid concerns the day of the game? Did they pre test on Tuesday. Did a positive player sneeze in team room? If so why is not the whole team quarantined? Is not Damien now at risk playing a team that clearly had a big breakout? These protocals seem to vary from school to school. Cancel this mess. Amat should not play.
Anyone know the down low on the Whittier- Bellfower Game.
WOW what happened to La Habra? I’m sure they will win league but wow just wow.
Good for Keppel, but when was their last Almont league victory?
Close in about 15 years the 2005 season they started 3-0 and then lost 7 straight.
@ron keppel begins almont league play against Alhambra next week. Maybe the most interesting Alhambra/keppel in a while because the Alhambra defense can’t stop anyone at the moment
RV are you switching your allegiance from Alhambra High to Mark Keppel? I don’t blame you, me too.
The Mark Keppel Aztecs just secured their third win of the 2021 season. They will begin Almont League play with an overall record of 3-2, which I believe is their best nonleague mark in more than 20 years.
