By Tim Peterson (Los Angeles) – USC allowed five touchdowns, 41 points and 504 total yards to Oregon in a 41-27 loss to the Ducks Saturday before 75, 500 fans at the LA Memorial Coliseum.

Bruins Wins Shootout Against Purdue, 52-38

By Alex A. Gonzalez Pasadena – Saturday night’s Big Ten Conference opener at the Rose Bowl saw the UCLA Bruins explode on offense for 645 yards against the Purdue Boilermakers as both teams traded touchdown drives, ultimately leading to a 52-38 Bruins win in front of 30,916 fans. 

Cougars Beat Poets in Home Opener

By Tim Peterson (Glendora) – Azusa Pacific led 14-3 at halftime, increased the lead in the third quarter and went on to beat Whittier 35-17 Saturday night at Citrus College. For the Cougars the victory was not only their first of the season but also marked the first since the football program returned.
