(All Kick-Offs are 7:PM unless otherwise noted)

Arcadia vs. Alhambra  at Moor Field

Too much going on at Alhambra, and it is too soon to expect a turnaround. The Andrew Policky era gets off to a fast start.

Arcadia 42 Alhambra 14

El Monte at Baldwin Park

The Lions love it when we pick against them, but coming off an 0-10 season it’s hard to jump on the Braves bandwagon…This time we will. BP has something to prove, EM’s starting quarterback will not be back until October.

Baldwin Park 26 El Monte 22

Los Altos at Arroyo

The Knights are going to be a good team, the Conquerors are looking at a deep playoff run for a successful 2013. Good quarterbacks, good lines, Los Altos has a few more home run hitters.

Los Altos 31 Arroyo 17

***

Maranatha at Bassett

Both of these have something to prove. Both of them are coming in shorthanded/banged up. The Olympians have home field and team that has waited a year for this moment.

Bassett 20 Maranatha 10

***

Mayfair at Downey

What a fun game. It’s fun just to say Mayfair & Downey. It might not be fun in the trenches, and it might not be fun if the Vikings fail to suffer from a post-title malaise. The Monsoons are going to have a good season, Downey flirting with a dynasty.

Downey 33 Mayfair 17

***

Montebello at Diamond Bar

If ever a game was a tell-tale of a season it was this one. Are the Oilers really ready for prime time? Are the Brahmas ready to get physical and fulfill what many have expected of them the last two years.

Montebello 17 Diamond Bar 13

Nogales at Rowland

There were certain things you could count on when Eric Dickerson played for the Rams. “Dickerson’s going to run for 200 hundred yards and score three touchdowns!”…Avery Duffus is going to run for 200 yards and three touchdowns.

Rowland 42 Nogales 0

***

Salesian at Muir

What do you think? We’ve learned it is best to bet on Muir late, rather than early. Go with Salesian, but don’t think poorly of John Hardy’s group. They will be ready come October.

Salesian 35 Muir 14

***

Valley Christian at Duarte

The Falcons need this one. VC has the new coach, Duarte returns Jason Martin and another step of stability so essential to a volatile program.

Duarte 28 Valley Christian 10

Blair at Hoover at Glendale High School

Flip a coin. We did.

Blair 8 Hoover 6

***

Covina vs. South Hills at Covina District Stadium

It’s not going to be a bad year for C-Town, it’s just going to be a rough start.

South Hills 45 Covina 7

***

Ganesha at Keppel

We go with the team that has the 3,000 yard passer…That would be the Aztecs.

Keppel 31 Ganesha 7

***

Montclair at San Gabriel

It could be a long year, but this might be a good opportunity for the Matadors.

San Gabriel 9 Montclair 6

***

Cathedral at La Salle

You can’t go 10-0, lose in the first round of the playoffs, and not want some redemption. The Lancers have a chip on their shoulder and it should serve them well. Just not against Cathedral.

Cathedral 34 La Salle 14
