
Village Christian quarterback Jesse Hanckel fired three touchdown passes in the Crusaders 50-36 victory over St. Monica on Friday.
Whittier Christian 41 Bishop 20
The Heralds received big performances from its stars to get the win on the road. Ryan Esslinger completed 28 of 40 passes for 302 yards, he also ran for another 51 and touchdown to pace WC.
Wide receiver Noah Evans caught 12 of those passes for 161 yards. Kevin Hoskins and Nick Watase caught seven passes each. Watase also scored on a 16-yard run. David Fischer led the team on the ground with 71 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown.
Standouts on defense were Dylan Murphy (9 tackles), Jack Huitt (7 tackles), Mitchell Neller 1 interception, and Austin Gray added a fumble recovery.

Norwalk 20 Cabrillo 15
The Lancers dodge two bullets. The first came from Rashaad Penny, with a tweaked ankle, scored two touchdowns, the last with five minutes to play for the game winner.
The second came when Cabrillo fumbled the ball deep in Lancer territory in the contests final moments. Penny finished with 135 yards rushing, including a 61-yard run to paydirt in the second quarter.

Muir 18 Salesian 12 (OT)
Muir picked up a win in a sloppy game as Daniel Cervantes scored in the bottom frame overtime to defeat Salesian. It was Muir’s first season opening victory against a school other than San Gabriel since 2008 when they defeated Diamond Ranch 16-6.
Montclair 38 San Gabriel 6
Cavalier quarterback Daniel Cevallos fires three touchdown passes.
The Matadors were never could not find a rhythm. Montclair scored early and San Gabriel responded to make it a 7-6 game, but a 24 point burst in the second half by the Cavaliers put the game out of reach.

Simi Valley 55 Temple City 2
The Rams got a safety.
The Pioneers amassed 419 total yards, TC managed 16.
The Simi Valley point total represents the sixth time in Temple City history they have allowed over 50-points in a football game. The 53-point loss ties the 59-6 loss to Los Altos in 1999 in point differential. The Rams lost to San Marino 54-0 in 1955, but it was last season’s 58-0 loss to the Titans that was the largest (worst) in school history.

Redondo Union 49 North Torrance 12
The Saxons were without Tj Cimaglio who was nursing a sore ankle and it showed.
New NT quarterback Mique Juarez finished 10 for 18 for 136 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions, but halted by the Sea Hawks defense as they dominated in the trenches.
Redondo Union beat the Saxons 42-35 to open the 2012 season.
