As of right now there are two teams, Bishop Diego and defending champion Nordhoff. Everyone else is going to have to take the long climb to get there. The other two semi-final spots are open, but the big date in December still looks like its reserved for the Cardinals & Rangers.

1.) Nordhoff– (1-0) Holds on to the top spot after playing not so nice hosts to Crescenta Valley (Corvallis, OR)

2.) Bishop Diego– (1-0) 48-0 pounding of Santa Maria with Abel Gonzalez getting 123-yards on only 11 carries.

3.) Whittier Christian– (1-0) Senior kicker Derek Brush goes four of five with a long of 41-yards to go with three extra points.

4.) Oak Park– (0-1) Lost a close battle with Agoura. Chandler Whitbord accounts for 423 yards and three scores.

5.) Carpinteria– (1-0) Impressive 45-0 over Templeton.

6.) Torrance– (0-0) The Tartars go on the road to Wilmington to get tested against Banning.

7.) Azusa– (0-0) Coach Scherf will have the Aztecs ready to play an improved Whittier squad.

8.) Centennial– (0-1) You can’t beat the Apaches up too much for the loss to 2012 Southwest Division Champs Edison.

9.) La Salle – (0-1) Needed a little better showing offensively against a solid Cathedral program.

10.) South Torrance– (0-0) The Spartans will see early how they stack up against other Northwest Division teams when Carpinteria pays them a visit Friday night.

11.) North Torrance – (0-1) 49-12 loss to Redondo Union highlights the effects of graduation.

12.) Sierra Vista– (0-0) Lee Jones and company will make their 2013 debut Friday at Baldwin Park.

13.) Village Christian– (1-0) Offense clicked for 50 against St. Monica.

14.) Maranatha– (1-0) Eli Snyder’s 321 yards and four scores against Bassett was impressive.

15.) Duarte– (1-0) Defense was the key holding Valley Christian to 161 yards of total offense.

16.) La Puente– (0-0) The Scott Morrison era begins Thursday night against Covina.

17.) Bassett (0-1) Underachieved based on the buzz around the Olympians during the passing circuit.

18.) Valley Christian– (0-1) A four point loss to Duarte was not the way the Crusaders were expecting start their season.

19.) Cantwell– (0-0) No place to go if you haven’t played yet.     

20.) El Segundo– (0-0) See # 19
