(La Puente)- Sam Edwards and Jordan Johnson combined for 239 rushing yards and six touchdowns, including a 41 point fourth quarter to give the Duarte Falcons a 55-27 victory over the Bassett Olympians on Friday night.
The loss was the first for the Olympians in Montview League play and kept the Falcons playoff hopes alive.
Bassett scored the first points of the night and also led 21-14 with 3:19 to play in the third after Jesus Navarrete scored on a one yard run.
Duarte then exploded. Forcing two fumbles that turned into touchdowns and four additional scores shared by Edwards and Johnson.
***Bassett quarterback and offensive catalyst Nicolas Colmenero led the way early for the Olympians scoring their first two touchdowns before getting injured and forced to leave the game early in the fourth quarter.
***End of first quarter score was tied 7-7

***Bassett WR Christopher Rios filled in for Colmenero at QB upon his injury
***Sam Edwards returned fumble by Colmenero 18-yards for a touchdown
***Jordan Johnson scored on runs of 39, 43, 35 and had a 65 yard receiving touchdown
***Christopher Rios scored the last touchdown for Bassett and finished with 76 yards rushing.
***Colmenero finished with 180 total yards and 2 touchdowns before leaving the game
***Duarte plays their last game this season at home against Ganesha
***Bassett now (5-1 in league, 5-4 overall) welcomes Azusa (7-2, 6-0 in league) next week to close out the regular season.
***Duarte (5-4, 4-2 in league) is now very much alive for a post season birth it heads back home to play Ganesha (3-6, 2-4 in league) next week.
