(Burbank)- Bad weather was predicted, but like most storm predictions in southern California it passed by as calmly as the Mayfair Monsoons passed through Burbank with a 49-14 loss in the first round of the Southeast Division playoffs on Friday night.

The Bulldog blitzkrieg bludgeoned through the Monsoons defense thanks on the rushing legs of James Williams (9/88yds Td), Tony Toledo (9/99yds Td), Joseph Pendleton (14/68yds Td).

They also did it on the passing arm of quarterback Ryan Meredith who fired three touchdown passes to Oharjee Brown. The pitch and catch tandem also connected with eight minutes left in the second quarter when Meredith fumbled the ball into the end zone after a 21-yard run, but Brown recovered for another Burbank score and a 28-0 advantage.

Mayfair’s Isaiah Jackson added a pair of touchdown passes. One to Evan Ponce from 20-yards late in the first half. The second came late in the game on a 40-yard pass play to Jonathan Orizaba.

The touchdown pass to Ponce was followed up by the Bulldogs Toledo returning the kick-off 99-yards to the Monsoon one. Toledo then scored his touchdown on the next play.

Mayfair finishes the season 5-6, while Burbank earns a date with Santa Fe (31-28 victors over Southeast power Diamond Ranch). It was in 2008 that the Bulldogs traveled down the 605 to face the top ranked Chiefs (9-1 at the time) and won 20-14. The victory was the Bulldogs first in post season since 1928.
