(La Verne)- Bonita and Glendora came in to Friday night’s game sporting a 4-1 record, and both were looking to separate itself among a highly competitive Palomares League. The result turned out to be anything but competitive as the Tartans routed the Bearcats 59-7. Both teams had little success in the first as each ended the quarter scoreless. Then it happened…
After scoring with 10:50 left in the second quarter to go up 7-0, the Tartans racked up 35 points in less than a seven minute span to go up 42-7 into the half. The Tartans were led by Matt Fink who scored on runs of 52 and 82 and connected for a 61 yard score to Beckner. The Bearcats couldn’t match the physicality of the Tartans on defense and were completely out-gunned on offensive side of the ball. Bonita gave up over 500 yards rushing and 42 points in the second quarter alone. At this point the game for all intents and purposes was to be over.
The Tartans left no doubt to begin the second half. On the opening drive of the third quarter Noah Holmes scored on the first play of the drive from 80 yds. out to put the Tartans up 49-7. From the mid-third, with the game in hand, Glendora substituted many of its starters. Bonita scored with 2:48 left in the third and failed on a two point conversion, to bring the score to the final of 49-13.
