(Norwalk) – Norwalk was no match for visiting Mayfair as the Monsoons posted a 35-13 victory over the Lancers, in a Suburban league contest at Excelsior Memorial Stadium Friday evening.
Norwalk opened the scoring, when RB Chris Walker found the end zone on a 30 yard TD run with 8:17 remaining in the first quarter of play. Walker, who accounted for all of Norwalk’s scoring, added another touchdown on a 40 yard kickoff return with 9:07 remaining in the opening half.
If Mayfair is the Monsoons, then the “Eye of the Storm” is Senior QB Isaiah Jackson. Jackson had a hand in each of the evening’s scores…passing for three touchdowns, and running for two more. Jackson connected with WR Johnathan Orizaba (24 yards), TE Jonathan Wright (20 yards) and WR Brett Driskell (42 yards). Jackson also proved that he can run the ball, scoring on runs of 1 and 7 yards. The balance of the Monsoon’s scoring came courtesy of K Jared Aldacco, who converted all five of his PAT attempts.
The Lancers could not seem to get out of their own way. Norwalk was penalized on each drive from scrimmage. Additionally, Norwalk committed several defensive penalties, which served to prolong the Mayfair attack.
