In a normal year, a year like any other we’ve experienced around these parts, a lot of coaches would have been in this discussion. A lot of teams put together some great years. Some programs rose from mediocrity to title contender.
However, nothing looked like or compared to what Mike Hobbie (and staff) accomplished at San Marino. In 2015, Hobbie’s fifth season, the Titans climbed to the top of the ladder and won CIF.
Fans and critics shouldn’t have been surprised, but we all were.
San Marino’s 7-4 record in 2011 earned Hobbie and staff mild applause. Then three consecutive second round playoff appearances raised eyebrows, and the title victory over Charter Oak in December defied all expectations.
This man knows his business. Go to MaxPreps, go the Central OC of The Year Award we posted two weeks ago…those numbers will tell you all you need to know.
