(La Canada) – The St. Francis Golden Knights had no trouble with the visiting Crespi Celts Friday evening, as St. Francis posted a 48-21 victory in the friendly confines of Jim Bonds Stadium.
The Golden Knights got off to a quick start, scoring on the game’s opening possession, when Devyn Turner found the end zone for a 9-yard TD run. St. Francis added their second touchdown of the quarter a short time later, when quarterback Jack Jacobs connected with Turner for a 28-yard score.
Jacobs threw his second TD of the quarter on the Golden Knights next possession; a 38-yard catch-and-run to Jett McCullough. All three of the PAT attempts were successfully converted by Clint Geryak, making the score 21-0, Golden Knights, as the first quarter came to a close.
St. Francis continued their scoring barrage into the second quarter. The Golden Knight started their scoring with a 41-yard Field Goal by Geryak. Additionally, Jacobs connect with Turner for their second TD of the evening…a 25-yard connection. Jacobs found the end zone yet again, again hooking up with McCullough for a 43-Yard score. Jacobs finished the evening completing 11 of 16 pass attempts for 240 yards and four touchdowns, after only playing in the first half.
St Francis’ final score of the period, and last TD of the contest, was provided by defensive back John Sanders, who returned an interception 38 yards for a defensive score.
Crespi got on the board in the second quarter, scoring on a 5-yard pass from Brayden Briscoe to receiver Holden Gering. The PAT was successfully converted by Ante Bilaver.
The only score of the third quarter was added by St. Francis’ reserve kicker Alexander Ang, who successfully converted an 18-yard Field Goal attempt. This made the score 48-7, Golden Knights, after three quarters of play.
Crespi added two additional scores in the game’s final period. Demainie Bell, who scored on a 4-yard charge, provided the first score. The second score of the quarter was a 38-yard toss from Tristan Fauria to Gering. Bilaver’s PAT’s were successful, making the score 48-21 as the game came to an end.
St. Francis’ next contest is scheduled for next Friday, October 21when the Golden Knights will host the St. Paul Swordsmen. Crespi’s next game, also next Friday night, will see the Celts travel to Paraclete, for a battle with the Spirits. Kickoff for both contests is scheduled for 7:00 P.M.
