- The Dodgers selected South Hills pitcher Sterling Patrick in the 18th round of the MLB draft.
- Northwestern fired head football coach Pat Fitzgerald amid allegations of widespread hazing in the program.
- The Dodgers optioned infielder Miguel Vargas who’s hitting .195 on the season and .079 in his last 23 games.
- The Dodgers also drafted Oregon State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei in the 20th round.
- The Colorado Rockies drafted UCLA’s Kyle Karros, son of former Dodger first baseman Eric Karros, in the fifth round.
- The Portland Trail Blazers are willing to wait months if necessary to trade All-Star guard Damian Lillard.
- The Jacksonville Jaguars signed tight end Josh Pederson, son of head coach Doug Pederson. Pederson played with the Houston Gamblers of the USFL last season.
