1. The Dodgers lost to the Atlanta Braves 8-7 Thursday night in the opening game of a four-game series at Dodger Stadium.
2. The Minnesota Vikings signed tight end T.J. Hockenson to a four-year, $66 million extension which makes him the highest paid tight end in NFL history.
3. The Cleveland Guardians claimed former Angel pitchers Lucas Giolito, Matt Moore and Reynaldo Lopez off waivers Thursday.
4. Utah beat Florida 24-11 Thursday night in the College Football opener for both teams.
5. Stanford, Cal and SMU will join the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2024.
6. Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler will pitch one to two innings Sunday for the club’s Triple A affiliate in Oklahoma City as he continues his rehab. The Dodgers are hopeful that he can return before the end of the regular season.
7. With a 42-32 win over Diamond Bar Thursday night Covina has scored 124 points in its first three games.
8. Santa Fe’s Adam Mancillas received the first ever “Trench Warrior Award” for his performance last week against Burbank. He was treated to a burrito at Veracruz Family Restaurant for his effort.
9. South Pasadena running back Jason Hong has rushed for 500 yards and 10 touchdowns in the first three games.
