Just to clarify your point and expand : CalPreps counts playoff games double in making power ratings , so if a team has two comfortable victories their power rating will improve greatly. All teams that are in semis have power ratings 6-8 points better than at end of regular season . I don’t really agree with this method (doubling importance ) especially in new playoff format. Cantwell beat Salesian and won league last year ( although Salesian RB Ramirez was out that game ). They had good year , but last year accomplishment greater.

These will exceed the dollar limit a bit, coming in at around $2.99, which of course goes beyond the value of the title, but it’s the best deal I could make.

Long time coming… But if you’re gonna hang your hat on the MHS win then you got lots to learn. Ramos, Olivia and all those guys are DELETED. You should represent CHS correctly…

Don’t sweat these individuals that hide behind an anonymous identity. Times are definitely different now with the playoff structure. That 2018, as you stated, went through the gauntlet. My son had to block Laumea in the Semifinals game. That kid was a monster. The team was still able to produce over 450 yards of offense and average 6.0 yards a carry. Win or lose, Medrano always had our boys prepared and with the belief that would come out on top. Best of luck to the remaining teams in the playoffs. It’s an amazing experience to make it this far, whether as a parent, player, student, or alumni.

No guru here, just a coach who care about his players and yes shut out. Great defense on both sides I just couldn’t get it done. But I do not hide behind my defeats or a blog name. If I recall we still beat Montebello and you were sitting home tuning in. So hey! It is what it is!

If this is successful season , shows why the quality of football in SGV is in severe decline ; CIF format allows rationalization and validation of horrible football.
The average Calpreps power rating for all teams not named La Serna in division 4 is 30.03. La Serna’s power rating is 49.5. Does it seem fair to plop the Lancers into this group, or should CIF have put them into division 3, where the average rating is 40.2, still almost ten points less than the Whittier club?
The next guy who’s tempted to come on here talking about kingdoms and football royalty needs to be aware that CIF has gifted the Lancers a super-easy route to a title. Your racket has been exposed.
Wrong, once again leave up to anonymous punks to continuously expose themselves as morons. Medrano reached a Semi Final in 2018 and did it having to travel 60 miles to face a loaded Moreno Valley team, faced a loaded Knight team whose WR/DB Christian Roland Wallace is currently starting at CB for USC and then had to face a loaded CIF Champion Eisenhower with multiple D-1 players including current Utah All-Pac-12 OL Satoa Laumea. This was done before the days of competitive equity, not taking anything away from Santa Fe because they’ve earned every bit of their playoff run this year.

Please, you know why the program is where it’s at. Ken La Vigne never had the top 70 athletes in the Whittier/surrounding area which is why he was never able to much in the Del Rio.

I would like to congratulate Coach Spathias and staff for a great successful football season. Reaching the Quarterfinals with an El Monte team that in reality didn’t have a great pre-season. Hawthorne in my opinion didn’t belong in Division 14, the 2 teams that came in 1st and 2nd place in their Ocean League Inglewood and Leuzinger were placed in Division 3. That’s too much of a desparity in talent level. Just my opinion. Regardless El Monte competed and represented the MVL well. Great Job Coach Spathias.
Damn, I wonder how many programs in the CIF Southern Section have advanced to at least the CIF Semifinals in 9 of the last 13 years.
