  1. Kalen DeBoer, who just led Washington to the CFP National Championship game, has been hired as the new head coach at Alabama. 
  2. The New England Patriots promoted linebackers coach Jerod Mayo to head coach to replace Bill Belichick.
  3. The Chargers are set to be the first team to meet with Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh about their coaching vacancy.
  4. South Pasadena beat Monrovia 121-10 Friday in Girls basketball. 
  5. NFL Playoff results: Saturday: Houston 45 Cleveland 14, Kansas City 26 Miami 7. Sunday: Green Bay 48 Dallas 32, Detroit 24 Rams 23.
  6. Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy has declared for the NFL draft. 
  7. NFL Playoff Schedule: Monday: Pittsburgh at Buffalo, Philadelphia at Tampa Bay. 
  8. Head Coach Jedd Fisch has left Arizona to take over as the new head coach at Washington. Fisch signed a seven-year  deal with the Huskies at an average of $7.75 million per year. 
  9. Former Washington State quarterback Cam Ward is transferring to Miami. 
  10. Head Coach Steve Sarkisian has agreed to a four-year extension with Texas through the 2030 season.

    @ CIF,

    Great comment to show the ridiculousness of the current system. Want competitive equity? Get the leagues right and then teams won’t be able to manipulate the system the way they are now. Competitive leagues will make competitive playoffs; not some computer ranking system.

    5) 5 of the six first round playoff games were blowouts with 14 point or more margins of victory . Some of the games even more one-sided than margin would indicate . Only one close game . Clearly this indicates we must modify playoff format and use power ratings to align equal teams in first round, so we can have close games and improve our television ratings . This competitive equity model will further randomize whole playoff structure and allow more cities to experience Super Bowl glory.

    I’m guessing So. Pasadena coaches and players had a big axe to grind over some Monrovia actions in the past.
