- The LA Kings fired head coach Todd McLellan and named Jim Hiller Interim Coach. McLellan was in his fifth year as head coach. The Kings started the season 20-7-4 but were 3-8-6 in their last 17 games.
- Carl Weathers, who played the role of Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” movies and played briefly in the NFL for the Oakland Raiders, passed away at the age of 76.
- Pat Mahomes, the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was arrested Saturday in Tyler, Texas on a DWI charge.
- The NFC defeated the AFC 64-59 Sunday in the Pro Bowl games in Orlando, Florida.
- The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to name former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy as their new OC.
- The Miami Dolphins named Anthony Weaver as their new defensive coordinator. Weaver was most recently the defensive line coach and associate head coach for the Baltimore Ravens.
- Former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is the top candidate to become the Washington Commanders OC.
- Freshman JuJu Watkins scored a school record 51 points to lead the USC women to a 67-58 win over Stanford Friday night.
- Chicago Bulls guard Zach Lavine will undergo surgery on his right foot next week and will be out four to six months.
- On this day in 2012 the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots 21-17 in Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Giants quarterback Eli Manning was named MVP.
