  1. Thursday scrimmages: Ayala at West Covina – 6:30 p.m.; Charter Oak at Monrovia – 6:30 p.m.; Northview at La Serna (Cal High) – 6:00 p.m. 
  2. La Habra linebacker Noah Solis, class of ’26, has transferred to Nogales. 
  3. Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy has a torn meniscus in his right knee and will undergo surgery this week. 
  4. Mayfair opened the 2024 Girls Flag Football season with a 39-12 win over Long Beach Wilson Monday.
  5. New York Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. is headed to the injured list with a UCL injury. Chisholm, who was acquired from the Miami Marlins shortly before the trade deadline, hit .316 with 5 homeruns and 11 RBIs in 14 games. 
  6. Texas freshman running back Christian Clark suffered a season-ending Achilles injury Monday six days after it was announced that C.J. Baxter, last year’s opening game starter at running back, will undergo season ending knee surgery. 
  7. Receiver Tavon Austin, who was drafted by the St. Louis Rams with the eighth pick in the 2013 draft, announced his retirement from the NFL Tuesday. Austin played for four teams in his 10-year career.

  9. Dodgers’ right-hander River Ryan will require Tommy John surgery for the elbow injury he suffered last Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
