@ Moor Town: I’m aware of that; I’ve known both Eric and Mike for well over 10 years. I’ve been with the AHS football program since 2003, and I’ve worked for six different head coaches.

@ Anonymous: Mike Mackintosh no longer coaches baseball at AHS, unless he changed his mind just a short time ago.
Perhaps he was handed the head football job; I wasn’t in on that process (or the lack thereof). I’m not involved in hiring or firing anyone there, and I don’t care to be.
Let’s see what Coach Mackintosh can do with the opportunity. I know him to be a competent person who cares about the school and the program. He was the offensive coordinator for the last five years, and he knows the players well.
Those factors ought to be pluses, but only time will tell. Turning the team around after a 1-9 season will be a substantial challenge, and I wish everyone the best of luck.

    anon,

Been extremely hurt. Too many false hopes the past few years. As for the Freshman QB, rare in these parts for a 9th grader to come in and start at Varsity, Good for the young man. Question, is he a true 14 year old freshman or one of them 2 year hold backs, 15/16 year old freshman, that we are starting to see due to some of these sports academies that have sprung up in SoCal?

I’m not privy to anything at Monrovia , but I’m pretty sure coaching staff happy to get win with freshman quarterback and not really worried about chest pumping .

complimenting a team on a win is not a chest pound nor is it sticking your chest out. denigrating the team they get the win against as not being good because of the division they play in is also weak. youve been hurt by monrovia, and thats CILISI

    DO,

No one is saying to play an Amat type of team, play a team within the Division or a division or 2 higher, giving you reason to stick that chest out a bit.

D10 -11 is much different than D14 . Monrovia was first round exit in D-9 last year . I’m not Monrovia fan or apologist, but who do you want them to play, Amat ?

Monrovia looked impressive. My sons team played Thursday so I caught the game. Must say I wasn’t expecting much. I was wrong! They started a bit slow but got it going. I couldn’t believe their qb was a freshman. He was playing like he played under the lights before. Very poised and sure of himself! Next week I want to go see Charter Oak play. Also interested in seeing Temple City, Covina, Damien, Bishop Amat and Bonita play this season also. Love this time of year.

@ Anonymous: Part-time coach? Mike Mackintosh is a classified employee who works at AHS all day, every day. And, as far as I know, he’s present for all of the practices after school, although I can’t 100% confirm that because I’m not always there.

@ Moor Town: Fire the new head coach after an opening-night loss? Now that’s real loyalty to the gold and blue! Try giving the man at least a full season, for goodness’ sake.

Arroyo looked absolutely horrible against CVC, unorganized, couldn’t pass the 50 to save their lives. I think maybe they crossed the 50 once in the first half. Hopefully Arroyo will get smart, and think about dumping Moye fast. Sierra Vista comes to Arroyo next week and His former team will most likely embarrass Moye and arroyo on their new field.

ER showed some things, good rb play, good offensive line, defense made some plays, brutal penalties on both sides.

Looking forward to ER v Don Lugo Tonite. Talk about quiet. Absolutly nothing written or being talked about this seasons Dons. Is that a good sign or a bad sign? I know Don Lugo is supposed to field one of their best teams with a fast stud QB. If ER has their typical lack of speed they could be in for another long season.

Man, Football is so bad in Hacienda Heights that the Mid would rather report a score for a game that didn’t happen, the annual Wilson/LA game that’s been played for decades. LP wins a phantom game, but Wilson/LA is even worth a few key strokes. But, after a 22-0 snooze fest, guess it makes sense. LA is in trouble if can only score 22 against the Wildcats. When was the last time they were decent? These schools are so bad, Tim forgot they even had football, went the way of the Edgewood
From T. Peterson: The score is posted.

Swung over the swamp to check out the Eagles against the Moors. Both offenses were ugly tonight. The Eagles finally got on the board midway into the 4th. Aguilar saved them on the drives with big 3rd and 4th long conversions. Game 1 week 0 won’t read too much into this game. I’ll check out El Monte next week

TC take out pathetic Whittier. Refs cost Colony what could have been a game changing score. CH, Glendora not a blowout but thought it would be closer. When I seen 14-0 BA over WC early I was surprised but the final is what it should have been. Nogales gets to put a W on the board before they have to forfeit it. Damien just a level above La Serna no shame there.
