  1. The Dodgers beat the Detroit Tigers 5-4 Thursday in the 2025 home opener at Dodger Stadium. 
  2. Richard Pitino left New Mexico to become the new head basketball coach at Xavier. 
  3. Baltimore Orioles outfielder Tyler O’Neill hit a three-run home run Thursday to lead the Orioles to a 12-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday. O’Neill extended his major league record by homering for a sixth straight Opening Day. 
  4. Former NFL running back LeShon Johnson has been charged in a federal dogfighting case after 19 dogs were seized from him last year in Oklahoma. 
  5. The Angels lost to the Chicago White Sox 8-1 Thursday on Opening Day.   
  6. The New York Giants signed quarterback Rusell Wilson to a one-year, $21 million contract after signing quarterback Jameis Winston last week. 
  7. The New England Patriots signed wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a three-year, $69 million deal. 
  8. Alabama, Duke, Florida and Texas Tech advanced to the Elite Eight Thursday night in the NCAA Men’s Tournament. 
  9. Arcadia, who’s only loss of the year was against Orange Lutheran Tuesday night, will play Orange Lutheran again Friday. 
  10. The San Francisco Giants have started 19 different left fielders over the past 19 season openers. Heliot Ramos started in left for the Giants Thursday and homered in a 6-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
