Norwalk, South El Monte, El Rancho, San Marino…love the non-league schedule
8/22 Home vs Norwalk
8/29 Home vs Cantwell
9/5 Home vs South El Monte
9/12 Home vs El Rancho
9/19 Away vs San Marino
10/3 Home vs Keppel * Homecoming
10/10 Home vs Alhambra
10/17 Away vs Bell Gardens
10/24 Home vs Schurr ** Senior Night
10/31 Away vs San Gabriel
7 home games. Can’t beat that.
My opening phrase “just might win league” made allowance for Schurr being an obstacle. Since the Spartans have also undergone a coaching change, this might give the Oilers an opening to steal a league title.
The Oilers just might win league, not because they’re good, but because the rest of the league is so bad. One has to wonder, for instance, just how long Keppel is going to continue in the 11-man category. Alhambra is awful, albeit miles better than Keppel, and San Gabriel’s fortunes are up in the air with the coaching change. Yep, the Almont’s landscape resembles a post-nuclear war layout.
From T. Peterson: You didn’t mention Schurr who, right now, is arguably the best team in the Almont.
