(Azusa) – Azusa Pacific fell behind 10-0 after two innings and went on to get blanked 11-0 by Point Loma Monday night in the second game of a doubleheader. The Cougars won the first game to split with the Sea Lions.

While Point Loma was knocking the ball all over the yard in the first few innings Azusa Pacific managed just two hits the entire game. Jacob Freer doubled off the wall in centerfield in the third inning and Will Medina singled in the fifth and that was it for the Cougars offense.
Colin Driscoll went the distance for the Sea Lions. He struck out nine and did not walk a batter on his way to the two-hit shutout.
Point Loma got three in the first inning on a run-scoring single by Noah Meffert and a two-run single by Owen May. Luke Reece and Jake Entrekin also had hits in the inning.

The Sea Lions then erupted for seven runs in the second to take all the drama out of the game early. Tommy Molina hit a solo shot and after Matt Bernath was hit by a pitch, Aiden Arriaga hit a two-run bomb over the right field barrier. Josiah Rodriguez and Jake Schwartz both had two-run singles in the inning as Point Loma batted around. They had seven hits in the inning and by the time the dust had settled it was 10-0 Sea Lions.
The Sea Lions added another in the third inning when Reece singled home Bernath. Point Loma had 14 hits to go along with the 11 runs.
While Driscoll sailed along for Point Loma APU used seven pitchers on the night. Blake Hagerty started and lasted just one and one-third innings. Kyle Bender came on in the second inning in relief and got the last two outs.
The Cougars then trotted out five more pitchers in the next five innings. Tyler Herges retired the side in order in the seventh inning and the Cougs held the Sea Lions scoreless over the last five frames but the damage had already been done.
Azusa Pacific won the opener 9-6 on a three-run walk-off home run by Medina.
With the split of the doubleheader the Cougars are now 21-27 overall and 19-23 in the PacWest Conference. The Sea Lions are 33-13 on the season.
APU has just two regular season games remaining- a doubleheader Thursday at home against Westmont.
