(Baldwin Park) The Baldwin Park Braves hosted the Alta Loma Lions Friday night in a Valle Vista League battle, and the Lions came away with a one-sided 35-6 victory to improve to 5-2 while the Braves fell to 4-3.

It was Alta Loma who did the Lion’s share of the damage in the first half.

Alta Loma quarterback Maximus Fierro led his team on an opening drive that covered 74-yards and called his own number from 10-yards away to cap the drive. Lucas Holquin added the extra point and with 4:44 remaining in the first the Lions led 7-0.

Baldwin Park came up empty on their first two drives while Alta Loma managed another score with 9:21 left in the second quarter. Isaih Brown got the call on a six-yard run to finish off an eight-play drive.

Alta Loma extended their lead to 21-0 when Kristopher Biggers got loose and outraced the Brave defenders to paydirt.

Semaj Stewart with a pick six to put the game out of reach.

As time was winding down in the first half, Baldwin Park found some momentum, driving 50-yards on seven plays and scoring with no time left on the clock on a 3-yard pass from Valentino May to Anthony Fields.

The extra point failed and the Braves were down 21-6 heading into the locker room at the half.

The score remained 21-6 through the entire third quarter.

The Lions got on the board again late in the final frame set up by an Owen Fiorenza interception of May. Fiorenza did return the ball to the endzone but the touchdown was called back due to a penalty.

Alta Loma used six plays to cover the 30-yards with Biggers getting his second score of the night.

Down 28-6 the Braves took to the air to try and get the score closer but were thwarted by May getting intercepted once again this time by Semaj Stewart who took the ball back untouched for the final score of the night.

Baldwin Park will look to bounce back after the loss on the road next week against West Covina.
