(Azusa) – Azusa Pacific was out for Spring Football practice Saturday on the field on campus. The Cougars, who reinstated the football program this year, will be competing in Division III when the season kicks off in the fall.
There were about 27 players out Saturday as the team completed its second week of practice. When the season kicks off and the roster is set the Cougars are expected to have more than 75 players on the roster. Azusa Pacific which has always played at Citrus College, is planning to play all of its home games this year on the stadium on campus. New turf and a new scoreboard will be installed and the goal is to have the facility ready by opening day.
“If we have to we can play the first couple of games at Citrus but the goal is to have this field ready,” said Azusa Pacific head coach A.J. Parnell.
The APU football program was shut down in 2029 before being resurrected this year.

We don’t have four seasons—just football season and prepping for football season
Remind me what season this is…with temperatures soaring above the 90 degree mark, this Spring practice must have felt more like the dog days of summer!
