WUHSD has set it up where kids who want to attend LS and live in the Whittier or Cal High, SF, Pioneer area have to obtain a permit, LS has been giving permits to anyone who wants it but from what I’ve been told the rest of the schools have really started to pressure the district to stop LS and they are cracking down. From what I’ve been told a lot of kids who are trying to go there this upcoming year have been denied a permit and will have to attend the school in their area. The district really should’ve cracked down years ago and there never would’ve been a need to kill off the Del Rio League. LS will be brought down to earth within a few years.

In its final year, the Del Rio League is proving that it is La Serna’s more than ever in each of the 3 seasons. Looks like LS used to allow games to stay close to stay in the DRL, but now they’re looking to flex their muscles on their way out.
Football 4-0 with a 42-8 win over Whittier
Girl’s Volleyball 8-0 and they only lost 2 sets all league play.
Boy’s Basketball 8-0 with a 76-37 win over El Rancho
    Girl’s Basketball 8-0 with a 59-18 win over Cal
Baseball is currently 6-1 with a shocking loss to El Rancho but with a 12-2 win over Cal
Softball is currently 5-1 with a very close loss to D-1 Cal but with a 25-0 win over El Rancho

So in the big 6 sports, La Serna is sporting a 39-2 Del Rio League record with most of those wins being blowouts. Looks like the league change was needed.
