  1. The Lakers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder 125-107 Thursday night in Game 2 of their second round Western Conference playoff series. Oklahoma City leads the series 2-0.
  2. The Detroit Pistons beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 107-97 to take a 2-0 lead in the second round Eastern Conference playoff series Thursday night.
  3. The NCAA men’s and women’s NCAA basketball tournaments are officially expanding to 76 teams the NCAA announced Thursday.
  4. Baseball: Arroyo and South El Monte finished tied for first in the Mission Valley League with records of 9-3. Arroyo beat South El Monte in both meetings.
  5. Baseball: La Canada won the Rio Hondo League with a record of 11-1. Monrovia took second place at 8-4.
  6. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is expected to meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend and is likely to play for them this season.
  7. Houston Astros infielder Carlos Correa suffered a torn tendon in his left ankle and will undergo season-ending surgery he said Wednesday.
  8. CIF Southern Section baseball playoff pairings will be announced Saturday May 9. Softball pairings will be announced Monday May 11.

  10. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke announced his retirement after seven NFL seasons Thursday. Heinicke played for Minnesota, New England, Houston and Carolina before joining Washington in 2020. He started for the Commanders in a 31-23 wild-card playoff loss to Tampa Bay a month after signing. He then played for Atlanta and played four games for the Chargers in 2024. He was released by the Chargers last August. He threw for 6,663 yards and 39 touchdowns with 28 interceptions in his career.
