The TEN

(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)

1—The Oklahoma City Thunder complete sweep of Los Angeles Lakers with a 115-110 victory at Crypto on Monday night. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led OKC with 35. LeBron James, in maybe his last game as a Laker, went 24/12/3.

2—Game Four of the Sabres-Canadians in Montreal tonight will run you $347 for a single seat at the Bell Centre.

3—The Denver Broncos announced former quarterback Craig Morton passed away on Saturday. Morton, a first round pick of the Dallas Cowboys out of Cal in 1965, was 83.

4—“Draymond Green has four NBA championships the way Ringo Starr has 11 number one albums.”—Shane Gillis

5—Donovan Mitchell scored 43 points, 39 in the second half, to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 112-103 win over the Detroit Pistons on Monday night. The Cavs used a 24-0 run from the end of the first half into the third to take control and knot the playoff series at 2-2

6—“I would like to announce that I have returned to 7/11 coffee after transferring to Circle K coffee a short time ago.
I do not want to identify myself in case I decide to switch back to Circle K.”—MVS commenter, “Coffee Star”

7—On this date in 1956 Brooklyn Dodger pitcher Carl Erskine throws the second no hitter of his career beating the New York Giants 3-0.

8—“Teams say they make business decisions, why can’t fans make a business decision when it comes to their tickets?”—Dan Patrick on Philly fans selling their Game Four tickets to New York fans before the Knicks completed their sweep of the 76ers on Sunday.

9—The Anaheim Ducks face the Las Vegas Golden Knights tonight in Game 5 of their playoff series.

10—From “The Peterson Principle” after LeBron James agreed to a 4yr/$153-million deal to join the Lakers in 2018:
“I liked what Magic Johnson did in getting LeBron James but how did he miss on Boogie Cousins? The word is he’s a cancer in the locker room and nobody wants to play with him. But at 5 million bucks and one year, who cares? If he doesn’t work out then don’t re-sign him. No harm done. The Lakers need a center. JaVale McGee is more famous for starring on “Shaqtin a fool” than for what he does on the court. Plus if LeBron told Cousins to shut up and play I think he would shut up and play. Let’s hope Magic has the Spurs GM R.C. Buford on speed dial in an attempt to land Kawhi Leonard.”—The Peterson Principle (July 4, 2018)

Wednesday’s game in Detroit is the game Cleveland has to steal. Taking this thing to seven isn’t going to work, because tough as it is to beat the Pistons on their home floor, it would be even tougher in a decisive final game.

Libron missed enough lay-ups to secure the loss.
