Braves Leave Little for Bulldogs to Chew On

Lequand “Jack Jack” Jackson accounted for four scores (three through the air and one on the ground) to lead Baldwin Park past West Covina.

(Baldwin Park, CA) The Baldwin Park Braves got three quick touchdowns and from there cruised to a 45-14 victory over the visiting West Covina Bulldogs Friday night at Baldwin Park High School as the Braves looked to remain unbeaten in Hacienda League play and set up a huge game next week with Los Altos.

The Braves only needed three plays to get those three scores on a 95-yard kick off return by Donovan St. Cyr on the opening kickoff, a 70-yard pass from Lequand “Jack Jack” Jackson to St Cyr and a 61-yard punt return by Jacory Coleman.

Before the Bulldogs could even build up a game sweat, they were down 21-0.

A touchdown grab and punt return for a score on a big night for Jacory Coleman.

The scoring slow for a bit until early in the second period when Jackson called his own number and punched it in from the two-yard line to cap an eight play 41-yard drive. The drive started at the West Covina 41 after the Bulldogs went for it on fourth and 6 and were turned away.

As time was winding down in the first half, the Braves went on another scoring march this time traveling 70-yards on 11 played capped by a 9-yard pass from Jackson to Da Riyon Vaughn.

The Bulldogs showed some fight on the ensuing kickoff as Moses Gogue fielded the ball at his own two, broke a couple of tackles and weaved his way through the Baldwin Park coverage team and into the endzone. The extra point was missed and West Covina trailed 35-6 with :23 left.

Not much room to run for Isaac Villescas and the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs got the ball to start the second half and went on a 10 play scoring drive that covered 67-yards with Gogue getting his second score on the night, a 16-yard pass from Elias Irvin. West Covina went for two and converted on a pass from Irvin to Vance Davis.

The Braves tacked on 10 more points to close out the game on a 33-yard field goal by Jayden Gamboa and a 13-yard pass from Jackson to Coleman.
