Good Evening!
Who had really had Bonita and La Serna reaching the final four? Who had them both being 11-1?
Do picks in July really matter? Looking at a poll done during the summer these were the four schools voters picked to be in the Southeast final four: (in order) Diamond Ranch, La Mirada, West Covina, and Muir. The Bearcats picked up 18 votes…The Lancers? None.
Village Christian is the surprise in the Mid-Valley Division, but lets be honest facing Azusa and Rosemead was not like facing Arroyo and Maranatha, or Covina and Bell Gardens…
I won’t say the Heralds are nervous, but I will say they are not looking past the Crusaders…And that’s why they’ll win.
Note to the Suave One: You don’t get to make new brackets after your old ones get blown up…sorry…
Speaking of Assistant Coaches: The movement has already begun…more to follow…
Somebody want to come on board and make an argument for Mayfair beating West Covina?
For what its worth, these were the top schools pollsters picked in the Mid-Valley Division to reach the final four: (in order) Monrovia, Schurr, San Dimas, and Arroyo… Two votes behind the Knights was Whittier Christian. Village Christian didn’t receive a vote and Azusa, a team that would go 10-0 during the regular season, received only 8 votes.
Don’t let anyone kid you…there was no warm smell of colitas rising up in the air at Muir Friday night…They didn’t even have any hot drinks…It was so cold I purchased a hamburger at halftime to warm my hands…
…Of course, yes, I eventually ate it…
Last Add Polls: A Southeast final four poll taken in March came up with these results: Diamond Ranch, Muir, La Mirada, and West Covina…
Really Last Add Polls: In February voters evenly took Arroyo to face Monrovia in this season’s finals.
The second annual Mid Valley Draft is coming this February…Reserve a team now…
Came back to the studio Friday night thinking Garrett Pendleton didn’t have his best night for Bonita…but after going over my stats he sure converted a lot of third and longs. Time to rethink.
Bonita HC Eric Podley refers to linebackers Eric Mikity and K.C. Huth as “Mayhem” & “Chaos”… I’ll just call them Bad Dudes…Very Bad Dudes…
Still not ready to pick against La Serna when they travel to the CatHouse on Saturday…
Say What!
I said I’m not ready to pick against La Serna when they play the Bearcats at the CatHouse…otherwise known as Glenn Davis Stadium…Heard higher ups in the LaVerne school system make this statement…its not mine…
On this night in 1974: Monrovia’s Dale Bunn threw three touchdown passes, two to wide receiver Lawrence Jackson, to lead the Wildcats to a 35-15 victory over Pacifica.
Same night, down the 710, Burroughs defeated Bell Gardens 13-6 thanks to a pair of touchdown passes by quarterback Tom Miller.
And at Mt. Sac, Biship Amat sophomore Nick Corso scored on a 20-yard run with 1:58 remaining to give the Lancers a 23-17 victory over Los Altos in the second round of the 4A playoffs. The Conquerors had built a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
Finally at North Torrance High School, San Marino rung up a 34-7 victory over Serra… Pasadena beat Thousand Oaks 32-16…Bonita beat Mayfair 31-28…and Whittier Christian scored a 35-21 victory over Tehachapi.
Stay thirsty my friends…
