[Victorville] Schurr alum Aaron Cantu led East LA College to a 24-7 win over Victor Valley College Saturday.

VVC started off driving the ball down field but missed a field goal that would of given it an early lead.

East LA returned the favor but also missed an opportunity by fumbling in the red zone.

Early in the second quarter Cantu found an open Rene Flores (South El Monte) for a 5-yard touchdown pass and a 7-0 lead.

The Rams weren’t ready to lay down just yet as quarterback JaQuorrey Williams found a wide open Jerrelle Green to tie it up at 7-7.

ELAC took control in the second half with Cantu’s two touchdown passes -one to La Canada’s Luther Walker and another to long time teammate and follow Schurr alum Carlos Arredondo.

Cantu finished 16 of 24 for 225-yards and three touchdown passes. Arredondo had 6-catches for 64-yards and a score, Flores had two catches for 9-yards. Preston Oliver from Marshall rushed for 158 yards.

Muir’s Robert Felton played a great DB all day capping off the win with an interception.

ELAC is now is 5-3 (5-0 under Cantu) and will play Compton next week. The Huskies are on the verge of their first Mountain Conference title since 1974.
