Muir's Jelani Mitchell at the free throw line
(Temple City) – Temple City gave Muir all it could handle but the Mustangs did just enough to beat the Rams 60-52 Tuesday night at the Temple City/La Salle Holiday Classic.
Muir led 26-20 at the half but only outscored Temple City by two in the second half to get the eight point victory.
The Mustangs had three players in double figures. Dion Nelson led the team with 20, Andre Frazier had 14 and Tevin Polk chipped in 11. Frazier also had 11 rebounds and three blocks. Nelson stood out defensively as well with four steals.
Ryan Cosato led the Rams with 15 and Felix Awujo added 14. Matt Der was also in double figures with 11.
Muir improved to 10-0 with the victory while Temple City dropped to 6-4.
