The Rangers (10-1) dominated the Dons (7-4) as they advanced to the Quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section’s Northwest Division Playoffs with their 44-0 shutout win Friday night at Ojai Valley Community Stadium.

This was not a night for the Dons’ leading rusher, Lee Jones. Jones, who was 93 yards shy of reaching the 2,000 yard plateau at the end of the regular season, was limited to only 54 yards on 24 carries, ending his season 39 yards shy of the mark.

The Rangers opened the game with four scores in the first quarter, including two passing scores from quarterback Tanner Workman to Eric Lara, as well as a rushing score by senior running back Tyler Livingston, who returned to the lineup for the Rangers after being sidelined for the previous three weeks with an injury.

In the second quarter, the Rangers scored again on an eight-yard catch by Junior Boyd and a 36-yard field goal by Cooper Garcia, putting the Rangers up 37-0 . By then, the Rangers had put in their second string in and both coaches agreed to play the remainder of the game with a running clock for the remaining seven minutes of the half and the entire second half

The Rangers will return to Ojai Valley Community Stadium next Friday as they host Whittier Christian in the quarterfinals. The Heralds advanced with a 38-28 victory over the Torrance Tartars Friday night at Whitttier College.
