(Covina) – Charter Oak jumped out to a 6-0 lead through four innings and went on to rout Walnut 13-5 Tuesday at Charter Oak High.
The Chargers, leading 8-5 racked up five runs in the fifth inning to put the game away. In the fifth with one out, Joseph Avitia walked, AJ Guzman singled and Martin Luna III walked to load the bases. Frankie Robles singled to drive in two and Diego Flores then belted one out to the scoreboard on the south end of the football field beyond the left field fence. The three-run shot made it 13-5. Game. Set. Match.
Charter Oak got one run in the first inning and then opened it up with four in the second. Jonathan Limon doubled in Mario Ortiz who had singled. Avitia reached on an error by the shortstop and another run scored. After Guzman singled Luna and Robles both drove in runs with base hits to make it 5-0.

Four walks and an error led to two more runs in the fourth inning as Guzman and Luna both walked and scored.
Walnut came up with two runs in the fifth inning as it tried to get back in the game. Jacob Zepeda drilled a two-run double to left field to highlight the inning. Aguilar and Noah Avina walked and scored on Zepeda’s double to cut it to 8-5.
The Chargers then put it away with the five-spot.
The Mustangs used six pitchers overall without much success as Charter Oak banged out 14 hits.

Charter Oak sent four pitchers to the hill. Ryan Blehm stated and worked four innings followed by Jordan Magdaleno, Jose Chapparo and Brian Aceves.
The Chargers improved to 7-4-1 with the victory while Walnut fell to 4-9-1.
