Super Bowl XLVII: Who Do the Coaches Like?

It’s hard to tell who Coach Donald Bernard likes in the Super Bowl

I asked the coaches a simple question. Who do you like in the Super Bowl? Some of the answers I got were expected, some unexpected and some were just way out there. Here’s the results.

Jacob Ochoa, Glendale College Asst: Baltimore – Better defense and a more experienced quarterback.

Marco Ramirez, Schurr HC: Ravens – I’m a Raider fan so it’s tough to root for the 49ers.

Brian Tabatabai, El Monte OC: 49ers – I like Jimmy.

Mike Moschetti, La Mirada HC: Ravens.

Jim Arellanes, Marshall HC: 49ers – Jim is a very good coach.

Craig Snyder, Former Rowland HC- San Francisco.

Jim Singiser, Arroyo HC: Monrovia.

Mike Moschetti likes the Ravens…and La Mirada

Anthony White, Buena Park HC: 49ers- In the most physical Super Bowl in a long time.

Wardell Crutchfield, Former Duarte HC, Baldwin Park Asst: Ravens – No doubt I got the underdog.

Donald Bernard, Former San Gabriel DC: 49ers- I’ve been a niner fan since the third grade.

Mike McFarland, Temple City HC: Ravens.

Felipe Aguilar, Rowland OC: Baltimore.

Gil Ruedalfores, Former Alhambra HC: Ravens – What’s with the all these coaches stepping down?

Erick Escamilla, Former South El Monte HC: 49ers – 34-27.

Brian Zavala, Montebello DC: 49ers – The Ravens have a good defense and Ray Lewis is a freak at linebacker. But I still feel the 49ers have the edge in this one. They have a good offense and a good defense as well.

Arroyo HC Jim Singiser is leaning Monrovia

Pete Smolin, Citrus Valley HC, Former Bassett HC: 49ers- I’d love to see them win.

Joe Scherf, Azusa HC: Ravens – Because I’m a Seahwaks fan.

Ray Hernandez, Former La Puente, South El Monte HC: Ravens- Ray Lewis goes out on top.

Roddy Layton, Diamond Ranch HC: I’d like to see Ray Lewis get it but I also coached Delanie Walker – recruited him out of Pomona High School at Mt. SAC. I guess if I had to pick I’d go with…a good game.

Pete Karavedas, Maranatha HC: 49ers – By seven.

Victor Salazar, Schurr OC: 49ers.

Maranatha HC Pete Karavedas is throwing in on the Niners

Ted Clarke, Whittier College Asst, Former San Dimas HC: 49ers – Two great coaches with great lineage. I like the niners defense but I like Ray too.

Tip Sanders, Former Marshall, Blair, Duarte HC: 49ers.

Zeke Prado, Dakota Wesleyan OC, Former San Gabriel Asst: 49ers.

James Escarcega, Crespi Asst: Baltimore – Ravens win 17-14. I’m a life long fan.

Joel Sanchez, El Monte HC: Ravens – 24-20.

Darryl Thomas, Former Covina HC: 49ers- I want the Ravens to win but I think the 49ers are going to win.

Jesse Ceniceros, Norwalk HC: Ravens.

Keith Jones, Former San Gabriel HC: New England – or none of the above.

WC HC Mike Maggiore’s research says Ravens

Mike Maggiore, West Covina HC: Ravens – I haven’t done my research but I will say I would rather the Ravens win. I think it’s going to be a great game.

Bill Zernickow, San Dimas HC: Ravens.

Mike Minter, Monrovia Asst: Baltimore – Baltimore and the undercard and you can take that to the bank!

Chris MacMillan, Arroyo OC: 49ers.

Matt Lopez, Former San Gabriel Asst: San Francicso – 27-20. There will be two great linebackers to watch in Ray Lewis and Patrick Willis.

Steve Clarkson, Quarterback Coach, Steve Clarkson’s Quarterback Camp: San Francisco- I like their offensive line.

Mike McKay, Former Pasadena, Temple City OC: 49ers.

Chris Long, Arcadia HC: 49ers.

Randy Backus, Former Temple City HC/Arcadia Assistant: Ravens.

Eric Elias, Arcadia Asst: 49ers.

Riley Saxon, Temple City JV HC: 49ers 21-17.

Matt Koffler, Former Rosemead HC: 49ers.

Thomas Camerano, San Marino Asst: Ravens- Go Ray Ray.

Marc Paramo, Rosemead HC: 49ers- But I’m pulling for the Ravens.

Steve Bogan, Former South Hills HC: 49ers- Looking forward to the “Brotherhood Bowl”.

Joe Morales, South El Monte Asst: Ravens – They will win a close one.

Amilcar Archila, El Monte Asst: 49ers- It’s their game to lose. They should be fine as long as they take care of the ball.

Ibis Aguilar, South El Monte HC: 49ers- Great defense and explosive offense with Kaepernick at quarterback.

SEM HC Ibis Aguilar goes with Kap and the Niners

Jason Martin, Duarte HC: Carolina Panthers.

John Tuttle, Glendale HC: 49ers.

Brandon Roher, La Puente HC: 49ers- That’s my team. I grew up watching Montana to Rice.

Victor Ambruso, Mt. View HC: 49ers- I was raised in Palo Alto. I idolized Jerry Rice.

Chris Williams, Baldwin Park HC: Baltimore Ravens.

Manny Ruedaflores, Pasadena City College Asst, Scout: Baltimore Ravens.

Alex Palacios, Baldwin Park Asst: San Francisco – All the way!

Jude Oliva, Former San Gabriel HC: 49ers.

David Ramos, Former Bell Gardens HC: 49ers- Great ground and pound game with mobile quarterback. I love that combination.

Mike Hobbie, San Marino HC: San Francisco.

Jack Williams, Downey HC: I think the 49ers are a better all round team. But the Ravens have the experience and are playing the best football right now. I’ll take Ravens by 4

Miguel Zarate Offensive Line Coach EMHS: Niners 27 21. Quest for six! Sorry Ray Lewis!

David Gasca RB/DB Coach EMHS: 27-20 Baltimore defense will be to much for the San Fran QB.

Gilbert Garcia DL Coach EMHS: 49er’s. 27-17. Martinez or rather Kaepernick is going to run all over them. He’s going to be the leading rusher.

Steve Urena Head Freshmen Football / Head Varsity Baseball Coach EMHS: Ravens -28-24 but I’m pulling for the 49ers.

Pat Ahhing, Rosemead OC: 49ers.

Albert Sanchez, Former Gladstone HC: 49ers- I’ve waited 18 years for the 49ers to return to the show.

James Heggins, Former Baldwin Park HC: 49ers: Sorry for the delay. I never call it too early before the game. I’m going with San Fran.

Note to coaches: It’s not too late to send me you picks. Send them to tim@midvalleysports.com.
