Former San Dimas running back Jake Payton will be wearing Bonita green next week.
Mid Valley Sports has learned from sources that former San Dimas running back Jake Payton, whose recent transfer to Upland was ruled to be athletically motivated by CIF, will be declared eligible to play football at Bonita in time for next week’s meeting with the Saints.
It was reported earlier that Payton had enrolled at Bonita, but it was unknown as to when/if he would be declared eligible. MVS has been told because Payton has a parent working within the district and the transfer was within the district boundaries he will be declared eligible to play.
The possibility is strong that he could be in uniform for the Bearcats when they face the Saints next Thursday in the 42nd annual Smudge Pot game.
