(San Dimas) – San Dimas and Diamond Ranch squared off Friday night for a scrimmage. Who won? Well there was no scoreboard of course but the edge went to the Saints 7-0. Starting quarterback Josh Avila didn’t play – he was playing baseball for USA baseball- but sophomore Nathan Reep was under center to lead the way.

The Saints always productive running attack was again effective with Manny Elizade, Reece Alvarado and Joseph Mayorga all contributing. Jason Wallace and Fidel Castro did a good job of plowing the road up front. Defensively sophomore middle linebacker Josiah Erickson stood out.

Xavier Beltran was at quarterback for Diamond Ranch. Beltran, although he can throw, was most effective when pulling it up and running. The Panthers did manage to punch one in late but it was after regulation during red zone plays.

For San Dimas, the season begins next Thursday night with the Smudgepot against Bonita at Citrus College. The Saints then get Los Altos, Diamond Bar, Monrovia and Northview on a tough non league schedule.
