Tj Cimaglio is North Torrance’s “Bad Dude” in residence

You find out the quality of your friendship when you start to debate Top 20 lists. The Northwest debate challenged the depths of the MVS fraternity. Here is what emerged, what it looks like in ten weeks is anybody’s guess.

1.) Nordhoff– Gaston holds up the mirror and says “Show me the Beast!”…and a Nordhoff Ranger appears.

2.) Bishop Diego– They got home run hitters, Nordhoff has more.

3.) North Torrance– Can Todd Croce rebuild the best offense in the division?

4.) Whittier Christian– The Heralds have a shot. Stay healthy.

5.) Oak Park– You would know about Oak Park in a world without Nordhoff and Bishop Diego.

6.) La Salle– After 10-1 season you shouldn’t have to prove anything, but this group does. The Del Rey does them no favors.

7.) Torrance– Expected to be part of the conversation last year, hoping for something better in 2013.

8.) Carpinteria– See #5.

9.) Azusa– Elements of the MVS staff always, always, and always believe in the Aztecs.

10.) Centennial– Always better in the back half of the schedule, but need to find a way to make noise at the front half.

11.) South Torrance– Should be better in the Pioneer.

12.) Valley Christian– New coach…new faces…new results? Some folks really like their chances.

13.) Sierra Vista– The Dons could climb…better put with Bubbas and Lee Jones they should leap frog into the top 10.

14.) Bassett– Joe T. is big on Bassett, but the rest of the staff wants to see them in action before moving them up.

15.) Maranatha– The good news is Caleb Devine will be healthy when league play starts.

16.) La Puente– Peterson is big on the Warriors…Still they lost a lot, 16 could be a little high.

17.) Duarte– Did they find a way to replace Denzel Talifero?

18.) Village Christian– As long as they can keep quarterback Jess Hanckel on his feet…they will compete.

19.) Cantwell– Yeah, they look like a number 19.

20.) El Segundo– These guys would love be in the Montview.
